About
Scott Agricultural Laboratories in Nairobi picked SL34 from a single tree on the Loresho estate at Kabete in the 1930s. With SL28 it became one of Kenya's two great quality varieties, and most Kenyan AA lots are a mix of the two.
It copes well with heavy rain at altitude and gives a bit more body and a little less sparkle than SL28. It has no resistance to leaf rust or coffee berry disease, which is why Kenya bred Ruiru 11 and Batian.
