Privacy policy
For coffees-wiki.com and the Coffee Wiki app for Android. Last updated 5 November 2026.
Coffee Wiki is run by Nightingale Pte. Ltd., Singapore. You can read every page, use the brew timer, the flavour finder and the café map, and keep a coffee journal on your device without an account, and we collect nothing that identifies you when you do.
What we keep, and why
- Your account, if you sign in with Google: your name, email address, profile photo link and a Google account number, so you can sign in and keep your things in sync. We use them for nothing else and send no marketing email.
- My coffee: the pages you save, your journal brews and your past photo identifications and coffee searches, kept with your account so they follow you between devices.
- Daily allowance: how many photo identifications your account used today, to keep the limit of 30 a day.
- Coffees people scan: when a photo or barcode shows a packet of coffee, the coffee's details (brand, name, origin, tasting notes) and how often it has been scanned are kept to build the most-scanned coffees list. Nothing about who scanned it is kept with it.
- Visits: a count of page views and visitors per day, with nothing kept per person.
Photos you identify
A photo you send to Photo ID is shrunk on your phone, sent to our server and passed to Anthropic's Claude to say what coffee it shows. We do not keep the photo after the answer comes back, and Anthropic does not use it to train its models.
Your location
Cafés near me asks your phone for your location only when you tap Use my location. It is used to centre the map and to look up cafés around you; the search is shared by everyone in a square of about one kilometre, so only that square is kept with the results. We do not store your location. Place names you type are looked up with OpenStreetMap's Nominatim.
Who else handles it
- Google Firebase (sign-in, database and hosting) and Google Maps (maps and nearby cafés).
- Anthropic (Photo ID and coffee lookups).
- OpenStreetMap (café map data and place search), Open Food Facts (coffee packet photos), Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons (text and photos).
We do not sell your data, show ads or use advertising or tracking cookies. Data travels encrypted (HTTPS).
Deleting your account
Sign in, open Your account and choose Close my account. This deletes your sign-in, your synced My coffee data and your usage records straight away. A copy of your journal stays on your own device until you clear it. If you cannot sign in, email info@nightingaley.com from the address on the account and we will delete it within 30 days.
Children
Coffee Wiki is for a general audience and is not aimed at children under 13.
