About
SL14 was one of the selections made at Scott Agricultural Laboratories in Nairobi in the 1930s, alongside SL28 and SL34. It was picked because it holds up in dry years.
In Kenya it was overtaken by SL28 and SL34, but on the Ugandan side of Mount Elgon it became the main Arabica, and much of Bugisu coffee is SL14.
