About
Rume Sudan was collected from wild Arabica on the Boma Plateau, just across the border from Ethiopia, where coffee grows in forest much as it does in southwest Ethiopia.
It yields too little to farm on its own, but breeders prize it. It is one of the parents of Kenya's Ruiru 11, and of the F1 hybrids Centroamericano and Starmaya, which owe their fine cups partly to it.
