About
Yemen's farmers grow many old, local types of coffee under names like Udaini, Tuffahi and Dawairi. When Qima Coffee and plant geneticists tested trees across the country, most were close to the Ethiopian landraces or to Typica and Bourbon, but one group was distinct, and they named it Yemenia.
It may be part of the first coffee that left Ethiopia for Yemen, before Typica and Bourbon were taken from Yemen to the rest of the world.
