About
Pink Bourbon turned up on farms in southern Huila, with cherries that ripen salmon pink. It was long taken for a cross of red and yellow Bourbon, which is where the name comes from.
Genetic tests have since shown it is much closer to the Ethiopian landraces than to Bourbon, which fits its floral, tea-like cup. It now wins competitions and is planted well beyond Huila.
